peopleMet AFK | Away From Keyboard zoekt dansmaker en beeldend kunstenaar Aafke de Jong (1971) naar manieren om zichzelf en de toeschouwer een meervoudige kijk op de werkelijkheid te bieden. Processen in de natuur en in ons onderbewuste zijn daarbij een inspiratiebron.
Dat anders kijken naar het alledaagse altijd een grote rol heeft gespeeld in het werk van De Jong blijkt wel uit het feit dat zij na haar dansopleiding aan Codarts jarenlang in Indonesië heeft gewoond om de lokale dans en cultuur te leren kennen. Ook die bagage neemt zij mee in haar performances, waarin zij verschillende disciplines, waaronder dans, muziek, tekst, beeld en omgeving, elkaar laat raken, kruisen, beïnvloeden en aanwakkeren.
With AFK | Away From Keyboard dance maker and visual artist Aafke de Jong (1971) looks for ways to offer herself and the spectator a multiple view of reality. Processes in nature and in our subconscious are a source of inspiration.
The fact that looking differently at the everyday has always played a major role in De Jong's work, is evident from the fact that after her dance training at Codarts she lived in Indonesia for years to get to know the local dance and culture. She also takes this experience with her in her performances, in which she allows different disciplines, including dance, music, text, image and environment to touch, cross, influence and fuel each other.
