Sexuality
Sex is all around us. In this series you can find information on the representation of sex in art and the media, how this relates to gender stereotyping and what is says about our identity.
Sex is all around us. On the internet and through other media as well, images of intertwined bodies and suggestive poses flash by constantly. How is sex being represented in art and the media and what does that say about our identity? Which stereotypes are being offered in this way? And is that changing in any way? In this file you can explore how some artists respond to this.
In 2018 we dedicated a major event to this theme entitled Sex and the Politics of the Gaze in which we explored together with thinkers, writers and artists how the current representation of sex in the media contributes to gender stereotyping. We studied the way this representation is changing, influenced by other ideas about relations between men and women and we considered the role of art and technology in this matter.
