Programme Assessments and Feedback
What models do we want to use and how can policy properly facilitate these ways of testing and feedback? In the program line Assessments and Feedback we explore these questions in workshops that also address the role of failure and not-knowing. And by playing a game in which the subject is illuminated from various perspectives: the student, the teacher, the exam committee, the director, O&K and the MR.Go to the ArtEZ Studium Generale Agenda to register directly for Thursday morning or afternoon.

WORKSHOPS
by Jesse van Oosten / Workshop / Nederlands or English depending on participants
Thursday morning 30 November
Time: 11:00-13:00
Location: Perron038
You are invited to join A Choir of Sexy Mistakes where, through several collective activities such as singing karaoke and reading together, we will sift through the relationship between failure, learning and assessment. How would we assess a learning process, when in the art school of the future we understand learning as a transformation happening to all that are participating in the classroom instead of a change only happening inside the individual student? We will explore what is actually needed to feel safe enough to take risks and to be out-of-synch with the rhythms of traditional pedagogy, while also looking into the implications and limitations of current assessment practices for the emergence of a more horizontal teacher-student relationship. The context of the workshop lies within Jesse’s ongoing research into the intimate in education, that offers a framework for thinking about education as an affective encounter and that includes embodiment in the process of meaning-making.

Naar een onzekerheidsvaardige student
Hoe kunnen we de regie bij de student leggen?by Anouk Mulders & May Heek / Workshop / Nederlands
Donderdagochtend 30 November
Tijd: 11:00-13:00
Locatie: Perron038
To assess or to be assessed in art education

Play the game developed by ellis to conclude her research in the Master Education in Arts at the Willem de Kooning Academy on assessment in Art Education: “Making space to get perspective by sharing perspectives: creating a playful tool for higher art education.” This research started by ellis being intrigued with the ambiguous role that assessment plays in art education. She asked herself: Why, when and how do we judge or are we being judged as one of the instruments in learning in/with art? She designed several prototypes and experiments to untangle the complexity at stake. This resulted in the development of a game, a playful dialogical tool, to facilitate a delicate conversation between all stakeholders involved in assessment, so that all those involved can feel heard in their need to perform. The result includes a manual to create your own game, matching the competencies, curriculum and educational program.
