Kim Jäger
peopleKim Kamilla Jäger is a composing and improvising cellist based in the Netherlands. In her playing and research, Kim is often in conversation with jazz-adjacent traditions, and the intertwining of improvisation and composition. With the collaborative trio Lavish she has won the Erasmus Jazz Prize 2023 and Mittelyoung 2023 and has played festivals such as North Sea Jazz Festival (NL) and Carinthischer Sommer Festival (AT). Their debut album Dump and Die (Unit Records) is a collection of stories about human entanglements with technologies. With the collaborative string quartet Four Frogs in the Woods, she explores how conceptual sound-making intertwines with composition. The quartet’s upcoming album explores the traditions of women and non-binary folks in electronic music in an acoustic string setting. Her compositions often include text scores, poetry and other attention patterns. Kim has worked with different art forms such as creative writing, music theater, dance and visual arts.
