Petra Van Brabandt
peoplePetra Van Brabandt is a feminist philosopher and lives in Belgium. She wrote a PhD thesis on David Hume, teaches at the arts school Sint Lucas Antwerp and does research into the field of art, politics & pornography. Van Brabandt believes that tackling sexism and racism in arts education requires quotas, a whistleblower culture, training and a code of conduct for employers, teachers, students and managers. In Belgium a recent study shows that over the past year, one in four women in the cultural sector has been the victim of an unwanted physical or artificial rapprochement at work, and one in five in the media. A lot of abusive behavior takes place in power relations and so work needs to be done on quotas and powder. Van Brabandt believes. "More women and people of colour need to be at the top. Both the students and the lower regions of the cultural sector are mainly populated with women, but they do not move on. A push movement is needed.”
