Open Call APRIA 2020: Redefining Oikos

Where do we feel at home?

news
Until today the Covid-19 pandemic urges us to ‘stay safe and stay home’. What or who determines what home is and what does it mean to be at home? It’s a complex concept and certainly cannot be associated with safety for everyone. For APRIA’s new Open Call, we welcome contributions that delve into the complex meaning of oikos, re-examining concepts of home and the tension between safe and harmful spaces in times of crisis. We look forward to your artistic reflections, propositions, guides, kits, and research! Deadline for submission 7 December 2020: contactapria@artez.nl.

APRIA is our online platform that publishes all forms of research through the arts: essays, image and sound contributions. This call follows on Staying with the Trouble. How to Tell Stories in the Time of Ecological Crisis? of which the contributions by ArtEZ students are distributed monthly since September 2020. Both calls were made in collaboration with our board consisting of:

Agnieszka Wołodźko PhD, researcher and lecturer in the field of the philosophy of art, posthumanism, and art and science relation. AKI Enschede.
Tabea Nixdorff (recent) alumnus of Werkplaats Typografie at ArtEZ in Arnhem.
Hanka van der Voet researcher, writer, publisher and educator in the field of fashion. Master Fashion Strategy Arnhem.
Caroline Barmentlo writer and a lecturer at the Theater in Education program at ArtEZ in the field of research and writing. Theater department Zwolle.
Cassandra Onck alumnus ArtEZ Music Theatre, singer and songwriter. As part of the AeCT professorship at ArtEZ, working on the Create Space Minor in collaboration with Radboud University.

APRIA is a collaborative project from ArtEZ studium generale and ArtEZ Press.
