Online dialogue - soft survivors in a hard world
videoIn this online dialogue, three survivors (of the war in Syria, the conflicts in Ireland and the war in Ukraine/Russia) talk to each other about flight, survival and what art can mean for them and others. About survival as victory over the oppressor, the activism of staying alive. About how the emphasis on hard skills in our education leads to war and the need to embrace soft skills like art.
Many initiatives are taking place at the moment that raise funds for Ukrainian refugees who are currently arriving on mass into western Europe. Many are young people and vulnerable youth and women. By all accounts the young people have had to leave their studies and are now picking through the remnants of their lives wondering what the future may bring to them and their country. However, they are survivors and one day they will return to rebuild Ukraine and most importantly to build peace with Russia and all those other countries and peoples that live on the edge of war in that troubled region.
A conversation with Dr John Johnston (programme leader iMAE and Master kunsteducatie), Paulina Siniatkina (candidate student iMAE) and Amjad Dwaer (student artist educator Theatre). All connected to the International Master Artist Educator (iMAE).
