Margret Wibmer

Margret Wibmer (born in Lienz/Austria) studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna before moving to New York, where she briefly studied at the Merce Cunningham City Center Studios and worked as an assistant for Sol Lewitt. Spending many years in New York, in the highly creative and stimulating climate of the 1980s, had a significant impact on her artisitic practice. Margret’s works systematically at the crossroads of art and fashion, employing a variety of mediums such as performance, photography, video and sculpture. Her work has been shown in galleries and museums in Europe, the US and Asia,  including Palais de Tokyo (Paris), RMIT Design Hub (Melbourne), Oude Kerk (Amsterdam), Fashion Moda (Bronx), KAI 10 Arthena Foundation (Düsseldorf), and  the Nishida Kitaro Museum of Philosophy (Ishikawa, JP). She was a tutor at ArtEZ – AKI for several years and a guest tutor at different art colleges in Europe, Australia and the US.  She has conducted international workshops and curated exhibitions. In 2012 she founded Mbassy Unlimited, an independent alliance for contemporary art and culture and in the same year she joined DAI as roaming ambassador. She is currently based in Amsterdam.
