Krzysztof Czyżewski (Borderland) & Quining Chen

Diversity Stories, season 2, episode 4

podcast
This episode consists of 2 items: a presentation by Krzysztof Czyżewski from Borderland and a presentation by a student from the ISC, Quining Chen, including a song he made.

Krzysztof Czyżewski is the director and one of the founders of Borderland, a cultural centre based in Sejny, Poland, the 'borderland' of the European Union. The region has traditionally been culturally diverse but there has also been ethnic division. With their art and cultural projects, Borderland raises awareness about lost cultures, and lays the foundation for a culture of solidarity. Krzysztof talks about the borderlander, and the question where do you belong as a borderlander. He talks about the beautiful concept of the empty room, as a way to meet the other.

Quining Chen studies Media Music in Enschede. Originally he comes from China, and he composed a song based on the concept of 'home'. This is one of the presentations by the International Student Circle, a newly-launced project in ArtEZ, a platform/community for students to exchange information and expertise, get known and connected with each other, and more importantly, share and create possibilities for your study and practices internally and externally via events/activities. Important is that ISC identifies international not to foreign but as students with international perspectives.
