Alida Dors

people
Convinced that dance can lead to change and stimulate social cohesion, Alida Dors and her dance company, Backbone, use dance to address social issues and bring different groups together. The urban themes of our society resonate in their dance: the struggle between the individual and society, public perception, power relations and identity. Over the past ten years, Alida has gone from being a hip-hop dancer to a choreographer, creating  fascinating new styles of movement that include elements of hip-hop characterized by the language of contemporary dance.  She often collaborates with other choreographers, such as André Gingras, Krisztina de Châtel en Erik Kaiel. In 2008 Alida received the Kunstfactor Award and in 2012 she was given the Dutch Dance Festival Award.
