Interview with Marijke Goeting

About the time factor in the design of digital technology

dossier: TIJD / TIME
This interview is part of our series about Time. This series of publications is an investigation of the effects of time (and the pressure of time) on making. After all, how do we ensure that making does not increasingly fall prey to the laws of capitalization? Can we make time, time for not-knowing as a productive force? In what ways can we resist, make activist time, break through what we maintain together? Can time be a creative tool?
"It is the task of designers to help us understand how different beings all relate and affect each other in the different timescales that they operate in."
Marijke Goeting studied Graphic Design at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem. She graduated cum laude for her master’s degree in Art and Visual Culture at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. Goeting teaches design and media theory to students of Graphic Design and Design Art Technology at ArtEZ. She received her PhD at Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen with her dissertation Fast, Fluid, Fragmented: Art and Design in the Digital Age
