Structures of Language
A variation on human communication
podcast by Fillip Studios (Tom Kortbeek & Roos Meerman) – 24 June 2020Under the premise of the exploration of variations on human communication, this episode of Radio ArtEZ returns to Fillip Studios. Fillip Studios is an interdisciplinary design studio and residency founded by ArtEZ alumni Tom Kortbeek and Roos Meerman. As artists, they focus on the cutting edge of art, science and society. You might remember them from the miniseries they did within our feed.
Moritz Brill and Iris Beek who study Fine Art and Design in Education, did their internship at Fillip Studios. They talk with Roos Meerman and Tom Kortbeek about the work Vocode, a tribute to languages that are about to die, which is exhibited at the Kröller Muller: krollermuller.nl/niet-met-zoveel-woorden. Furthermore they reached out to another artist and graphic designer who is represented in this exhibition, Guido de Boer. He works with language and the impact on society. The podcast is an exploration of how art can attach itself to social issues, how it can be a unique viewpoint in societal challenges.
