La Coquille (Dakar 2010)
Conversation entre Issa Samb et Antje Majewski
videodossier: My learning is affected by the condition of my life
Are there ideal spaces for learning and transmitting art? From the classroom to the artist's studio, are there levels of transmission that correspond to them respectively? What types of relationships and conversations can these different spaces create between the teacher and the learner?
La coquille by Antje Majewski is part of the project My learning is affected by the condition of my life. The film features a conversation between the artist and Issa Nsamb (*1945-2017), a Senegalese artist, actor, philosopher, author, critic, and co-founder of the interdisciplinary initiative, Laboratoire Agit-Art.
The present conversation takes place in a yard in Dakar, an open space which was at the same time the artist's studio, an open library, a meeting and convivial space, a common working space, a space for learning and education. The content of the conversation which is based on a questioning method also teach us a lot about our responsibility to objects as artists but also beings.
